Lincoln was the most theologically penetrating of the commentaries I used preaching through John. He did not always penetrate the text, but was much more conversant with theological themes and implications than the other commentaries. Also he did a fair job interacting with OT backgrounds and passages that illuminated the scriptures. I would definitely recommend this if preaching through John.
