This is the first of a Historical fiction trilogy that details middle ages between Norway and Sweden. The story is told through the life of a girl and wieghs heavily temporal versus spiritual choices that she makes, and how those choices form the rest of her life. It was a very interesting trilogy that deals with relationships and especially in regards to man and wife and what their different responsibilities would have been during this time frame. The translation is a very good, never the less it is not a fast read, but very interesting.
