I can't remember the last time I've been betrayed (thank goodness), but I think that this book's message would apply to any hurtful or infuriating situation. Basically, Dr. Laura says revenge is a fun idea, and stewing in anger has its appeal, but getting on with life and enjoying yourself in spite of setbacks is the healthiest approach.

I always enjoyed Dr. Laura's radio show and agreed with about 90% of her advice--this book is likewise mostly good (she inserts her rigid ideas against gay marriage, quotes Sarah Palin's words of advice to her, and spends more time complaining about the media backlash over her use of the "N" word than reflecting on why it was a terrible mistake on her part).

In the best parts of this book, she opens up about the pain of her son discovering that nude photos of her were posted on the internet, how characters based on her in TV shows hurt her deeply, and the time that a friend didn't stick up for her when someone she'd just met treated her very rudely. Brusque as she can be to callers, Dr. Laura is pretty human on the inside.
