Into the Wild
by Jon Krakauer
by Jon Krakauer
It's testament to Krakauer that even though I've seen the movie, and know the story, I was still pretty engrossed by the book. But in the end I had the same reaction to the tale that I had after seeing the film: I envy Chris McCandless's sense of adventure, and there is something very appealing about just dropping out of society and living on the land. But did he have to be such an asshole about it? Just call your parents once in a while. How hard is that?
