A Patchwork Planet
by Anne Tyler
I agree with you on Anne Tyler. I've loved some of her books and others are just blah. I haven't read this one so will have to check it out.
Sharilyn, which are the ones you'd recommend by Anne Tyler? I've never read anything by her but will get around to one someday, and if it doesn't turn out to be a good one I don't think I'd ever try another. Saint Maybe sounds interesting.

I find Anne Tyler to be uneven. Her best books are great and her okay books are okay. I put this one in the great category. I really liked the protaganist, who was very flawed, yet had terrific qualities. And the women in his life had very real (and different) experiences with him. Well worth a read, especially if you are an Anne Tyler fan.
