A beautiful book with a simple message, Me...Jane tells a brief story about Jane Goodall's childhood. She has a stuffed chimpanzee, she loves the outdoors, she has fun learning new things about nature and then... she becomes who we all know her to be, the world-famous chimpanzee researcher and conservationist. The drawings are really delightful, with each page spread made up of one cute cartoon image that describes the narrative and one collage of images, including 19th and early 20th century ornamental engravings, that describe the action more poetically. The book is written and illustrated by Patrick McDonnell, who draws the "Mutts" comic strip.
