The Earth is being overtaken by "souls", little silver worm-like creatures who overtake a being's body and mind. When an experienced soul called "Wanderer" takes over Melanie Stryder's body, though, she fights back keeping a little piece of her conscious state . Now there are two beings in the body being drawn to Melanie's past. They find a small clan of unchanged humans with the man that Melanie loves and her younger brother. Wanderer starts to feel connected to those around her and wonders if her original ideas of humans were right. Melanie fights to still be, while Wanderer or "Wanda" tries to discover why she is so drawn to these humans.

I read the ARC copy I got from ALA Midwinter and I thought it was very good. I will admit that I like Stephenie Meyer to begin with (except Eclipse) and I like fantasy and most science fiction so I would take this review with a grain of salt.
