Excellent! Manual Munoz's novel at first seems slow-paced and quiet, but the intertwined storylines unfold quickly to reveal a heartfelt, unsentimental story set in Bakersfield, California. The time is somewhat disjointed now and again, which left me in a state of anticipation that propelled me to continue turning the pages. The enormous hope of young love, the quiet frustration of living a life you don't feel is yours, the creation of art and music that may well be dismissed by the audience--all of these elements come together for one of the more unique novels I've come across recently.
