A look at the way America feeds itself from our agricultural practices to our use of the land and fertilizers and the effect on our environment. A powerful call for agricultural reform ( the end of farm subsidies, industrial agriculture, and a return to local, family farming). The second part of the book about the author's efforts to forage a meal is much less engaging.
