I love a book with an imaginative hook. In this one former soldiers are recruited for mercenary work only the boss is Odin and the location is Asgard. The Norse gods are about to go to war with forces led by the trickster god Loki. Thor, Freya, Heimdall and the other gods show up. The Valkyries are now riding snowmobiles and toting submachine guns. The Norns show up with prophecies, Yggadrasil, the world tree is threatened, as are Midgard and the other worlds. And, of course, deliriously, Loki is the first female President of the United States. All the adolescent time spent reading The Mighty Thor pays off big time in this entertaining romp. Apparently author Lowgrove has a number of these, variants on a theme with Egyptian and Greek gods playing various parts.

Tripp The Mighty Thor! I still have my issues of this Marvel mag! Favorite storyline was the one by Walt Simonson, which actually had decent writing to go along with amazing art.

Keith And they say reading "comics" doesn't increase your intelligence. Without Marvel's Thor I would know much less about the Norse gods.
