"Too Many Tamales" is a great book to work on predicting with students of the Spanish culture. Because this text takes place during the holidays and connects to Spanish speaking students through the foods and traditions, the ability to predict will not be hindered by a culture barrier. The words lead students into possible predictions, but the illustrations do a phenomenal job at depicting the emotions of the characters, which also help students see possible events that could occur in the story. The underlying message to this story is important for students to understand. Even though you may be scared of the consequences, the truth is always the best option.
