Large in scope, with a far-reaching and diverse cast of characters. Pretty impressive for a fantasy series opener -- the worldbuilding is little more sparse than I'd like but intriguing enough to lead to questions and hunger for information and more books in the series.

Bonuses: Marcus Wester. Clara Kalliam.
