Enjoyed this much more than I anticipated. As an over-hyped bestseller I didn't expect much, but I did enjoy one of her other books T The Constant Princess. Gave this one and chance and was pleasantly surprised.

I followed the first section better while Mary was Henry's mistress. As Anne took over the book got rather repetitive. Anne is actually a fairly dull character, while Mary is the one with some actual development. Anne's rages and monotonous complaints just got old.

I always seem to enjoy girly historical fiction, and this one had the added twist of a focus on an unknown character.
