Felt I should have liked it more, after all he is one of the saints of the eco-environment movement, but there was something in the tone that really resonated despair - yes, humans have despoiled and are continuing to despoil this amazing habitat, and yes it is hair-tearingly despairing, but I do not want to be overcome by a sense of loss even as I am aware of the paucity of the bird populations in the big city I call home let's choose to look at the return of the raptors to our high-rises. Anyway, maybe I should live in the country after all? My first impressions would certainly be one of abundance after life in the concrete jungle.
