This is a very good guide to Stoic philosophy. Stoicism, at least in its Roman incarnation, was a practical guide to leading a virtuous life of tranquillity. This book lays out the various ways Stoics kept their cool and maintained their equanimity. It prompted me to read the Stoics themselves, and I'm currently working through a biography of Marcus Aurelius.

Good stuff!
