I really wasn't sure how this book was going to work. I was never a huge fan of Tabitha and Valerius was always the despised Roman. I think Kenyon did a wonderful job redeeming these characters. I wasn't sure how she was going to make Tabitha come down from crazy town, nor did I know how she was going to get us to sympathize with a character so many of our previous favorites despised. But she did it. We get a glimpse into the world Valerius lived in and was also tortured. I am happy to see he got his HEA and some of the characters came around to accepting him, though not entirely (and that was extremely realistic). Although I love the biker bad-asses like Talon and the hot Weres like Vane, there was something alluring about the stodgy Roman. And Tabitha definitely showed me another side. She wasn't the crazy sister anymore, but we saw how she too felt like an outcast in her family at times. They were perfect for each other and their love was hot. I enjoyed this book, though not the re-emergence of Desiderius. And by the way, the ending is fast, hard to accept, sad, disheartening, and uplifting at the same time. Twists and turns and new fates made by one twist of anger. Though not my favorite book, it was definitely worth the reading and was a really good addition to the series.
