Double Play (Burke, #1)
by Robert B. Parker
by Robert B. Parker
Terrific from a white man's perspective and how Jackie's story redeemed all of society regardless of race. Imagination is so powerful and the author brought in an imaginary character whom nobody would doubt existed and created him vividly. Very little actual baseball but compelling behind the scenes which brings Jackie's rookie of the year performance in 1947 into more perspective as remarkable.
