** spoiler alert ** hmmmm... for the most part, I just didn't like Mickey Haller's profession - a defense lawyer for which the law is grey... his job to find which 'spinning plates' he can knock off to introduce reasonable doubt for his clients... and he wants to make money...personally he seemed like a nice enough guy, he loves his daughter, has interesting relationships with his exwives (one a DA, one that handles his paperwork still)...

the big case is that of a rich young man, son of real estate magnet accused of battery and attempted rape - at first he thinks he has an innocent client, but finds out that he has beaten, raped, and killed at least 2 other times... it puts his family at risk as he tries to toe the line as lawyer, but not let him get away with it... his case gets excused, but then the police immediately arrest him for one of the other deaths... he gets out quickly, and Mickey knows he or his family is a target - he panics to get his exwife and daughter to safety... and it ends up that the man goes after his wife (who is safety tucked away with the police, unknowingly to Mickey, as they thought his phone was tapped) and the man's mother goes after Mickey, shooting him in the gut, but then Mickey pulls his gun & shoots and kills her - and the police are there ...

hmmmmm... in general I just don't like law books, I like black and white, not stripes of grey... so I won't be reading more of these...
