I would recommend this book to an older crowd, as it deals with teenage sexuality. Katherine is the protagonist, meeting Michael early on at a New Year's Party and deciding from that point on whether or not to have sex with him. Michael is experience, Katherine is not. When she finally does lose her virginity, she believes that she and Michael will be together forever, as most teenage girls feel about their first. They are close until Katherine has to be a counselor at a summer camp and meets Theo, an older, more attractive man that is interested in her too. Katherine goes through an inner battle until she comes to the realization that sex isn't the end all be all of a relationship. She ends up happy and takes responsibility for hurting Michael, but knows she is a better person because of the experience.
