Possibly the most bizarre side effect of the stories combined between these covers is that, despite the addiction and estrangement and general clusterfuck of events that come to pass and the people who bare witness, you are left with almost a warm fuzzy feeling upon completion.

Well, almost.

Patrick Ha ha, that's very funny. I had a different reaction to this book. It's a bildungsroman but featuring introverted drug addicts in the Mid West. Reminded me of people I knew when I grew up, people everyone knew, I suppose. I saw the movie, it's worth netflixing just for Jack Black--his finest role. Though the rabbit scene is very different in the book. I'm amused that Denis Johnson is now on the top of the best-seller list and considers himself a grown up.
