In the beginning of The Princess Diaries, Mia Thermopolis was an average teenager. She wasn't considered popular, was failing algebra, and had dreams of dating an attractive senior named Josh, who went to her high school. Although, she was humiliated because of the fact that her mother was dating her algebra teacher, Mia was completely normal. It was not until she found out that her father wasn't just a regular politician in Europe, but the prince of the fictional country, Genovia. Mia's life changed forever. Taking in the huge news was extremely hard for her. Never in her life would she have thought that she was princess of Genovia. If she can't get the guy of her dreams, how is she able to run a country? After having a makeover and lessons on how to behave like a princess, soon enough, paparazzi start showing up at her school and she becomes a popular sensation there. But her friendship with her true best friend, Lilly, starts crumbling.
This book was much more interesting than the movie. I loved reading it since it felt like I was actually reading a diary, rather than a book. I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a journal-like, funny book.
