I'm listening to this on CD in the car. If not for the fact that I have to be in the car anyways, I would have given up on this tripe long ago. Does it stay this bad? Should I pack it in? I've read some other reviews on this site and everyone seems to like it, but so far I couldn't care less about Ally, Maddie, Georgia, Paul, Lucy, Frieda - none of them are particularly interesting, and if I hear one more reference to the blue heron, I'm going to hurl.
Okay, Nancy Travis has finished reading to me. It did get a little better. but not much. What woman does nothing when her sister sleeps with her fiancé? Really? Nothing at all? Doesn't tell anyone, just let's it go? All of the stories inter-connected, which was cool, but how did the shared past with the Lion Park Hotel never get discussed among Lucy and Frida, even though they knew that Maddy was staying there? It all seemed so contrived and unrealistic, the relationships between the people seemed bizarre.
I haven't read anything else by Alice Hoffman, and after this one I don't think I will.
