really liked it
bookshelves: non-fiction, listened-to-audiobook
Read in April, 2011

This is a very well-researched book, and the reader's inflections and intonations (as I listened to the CD version) were marvelous. However, the chronology didn't make sense to me. While it states the year, I didn't understand why the text was ordered as it was, and I found that distracting. This is definitely a book for adults. I would recommend it to history buffs and fans of the musical Gypsy. For people without these inherent fascinations, there are other books that would probably be a better use of their time.
