** spoiler alert ** Pretty captivating story about loss, growth, and redemption. High Powered businessman has a flashback to his troubled past, does something bad, and basically loses everything. A dog (pit bull) is removed from a dog fighting environment and gets paired up with the struggling former businessman.

The book is written in third person from the human POV and first person from the dog's POV. Chapters alternate between dog and human, up to a point. Toward the end, as tension builds and the dog has been put back in harm's way, we stop hearing from the dog, which really got me on edge.
