I had to catch myself wiping a tear a few times while reading this book (on a plane-eep!). Montalvan's transformation from wounded and angry to wounded and healing is truly inspiring. I learned about the challenges returning service members face when dealing with the world around them, the VA and themselves once returning from active duty. I also learned about service dogs and the vast amount of people each dog is able to reach during their lives. It's an awe-inspiring process.

Montalvan does discuss political opinions in this book; these views and opinions are part of the author's fabric and integral to the story. These forays into the political of war and the military system were important to understand the complete picture of the author's life and his journey.

I completed this book in one day; I couldn't put it down. I have always been a supporter of service-dog groups and now, thanks to this book, I intend to increase my contributions to these organizations.
