I enjoyed this book very much. This is one of those rare instances when the glowing snippets of review on the cover seem accurate; this is indeed a ‘funny and sharply observed’ modern tale, and I identified with the setting and with the characters. Whenever I had to put the book down, I was looking forward to picking it back up again. I’m keen to read more from this author.

I did find the large number of characters a little hard to keep track of at first, but then I usually have this problem. I did work it out in the end. Here are the family trees if you’re equally flummoxed... more here.
