Nicole Baart's AFTER THE LEAVES FALL was strikingly mediocre, moreso because of the writing itself than because of the story. At approximately the 40% point, the writing deteriorates - specifically, there is far too much exposition ('telling' / narration), and unnecessary clarifications of the main character's thoughts. Again, too much exposition. I only finished the book because I wanted to see whether or not the main character would end up with the character I hated.

In summary, this book wasn't as bad as I'm making it seem, but only the first few chapters are worth taking a look at. Because of the writing, at times the reading was unbearable. I feel bad to insult the author, but nonetheless, I won't be reading any more of Nicole Baart's books. She should stick to what she does best, whatever that is -- or maybe her current books are better (this was her first).

Ivy Krill QUESTION: Should I finish reading this book? I don't know if I should bother; I'm about halfway through and it's become very mediocre. And I hate the new character.
