Economics is a very complex subject. Just try understanding how the current recession started. This books makes the subject accessible. Greg Ip is the economic editor for Economist Magazine and intended the book as a primer on how the modern economy works. If you have ever wondered why people rave at the Federal Reserve and bemoan the excesses of Wall Street and Globalization, the book goes a long way toward enlightening you. The modern world runs on money and understanding how money works is essential to understanding why things are the way they are. There is no fluff in the book. Ip presents each subject in a clear statement of facts and makes it clear by analogy. Economics is a tangle. The book untangles it a bit.
