"How anyone can be that dumb and still be allowed to eat with a fork is beyond me."
That quote sums up the voice of young April Grace in this hilarious book from KD McCrite. In In Front of God and Everybody, April Grace stands in amazement and watches the goings on of her family and their new big city tenants during the summer of 1986. I adored this quick read and hope it becomes an eventual series. It's going to be marketed as Christian Fiction, and, unfortunately, I know this often turns some people off. However, McCrite gets it just right here: her characters lives showcase the Christian way of life without them having to spout off a sermon in the middle of the book. The only thing I found a little puzzling was the setting of 1986, which didn't seem to add much to the book- not sure why it wasn't set in present day. Regardless, great read and I'm looking forward to more from Ms. McCrite!
