I really enjoyed Steve's writing, and found him to be surprisingly literate and (not surprisingly) funny. My only real problem with the book was why the narrator (a decent, mild mannered art writer) was so enamored with the subject of the novel, first an employee at Sotheby's and then owner of her own gallery. He salivated over her every move.I get that she was supposed to be pretty, but her personality was really lacking in the charm department, though she could get in a good barb when she wanted to.
