ANYONE!
Read from August 14 to 17, 2011, read count: Once
As always...WOW! Sherri, yet again, has amazed another fan with another new release! Of all the male characters Sherrilyn Kenyon has ever written, William Jessup Brady has to be the most unique, if for no other reason than the sheer loveability and fun loving attitude of his personality. And, Abigale was just plain amazing. I always find something fascinating in each of the DH heroines and Retribution was no exception. Paired together, these two characters were fun to read from prologue to epilogue. The dynamic of the characters astounded even I!
The plot of this novel was so interesting, and best is described as a story which brings all of its characters full circle, but with untold future events to follow later in subsequent books. I don't doubt many who have read Retribution will say the plot was lacking in a conclusion. However, having seen what lies in store for the 2012 summer Dark-Hunter release, I think it might be safe to say Retribution was intended to be a prequel of sorts for the book Time Untime. What's more, considering the fact that our amazing Author Goddess is re-exploring the Native American subtext and Parthenon, Retribution is eased but action-packed.
Overall, yet another entertaining story with rich characterization, action-filled excitement, and passionate romance!

“They say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. In the case of William Jessup Brady, it’s been hand carved with a lever-action Henry rifle over his shoulder and a Smith & Wesson six-gun strapped to his hip.’ – Solace Walters”

“You have twenty-four hours, horseguy, to kill your betrayer any way you see fit and to take your revenge. Make them count. Oh, and know that you can’t let daylight touch you. If you do…Well, you don’t want to die without your soul. It’s highly unpleasant. Sometime in the next few days, a man named Acheron Parthenopaeus will find you and teach you everything you need to know about being a Dark-Hunter. If you’re smart, you’ll listen to him. Welcome to the madness.” – Artemis”

“I get it, kid. Case you haven’t noticed, Dark-Hunters are on almost as many menus as humans are. Having something trying to kill us is about normal. Now, why you more flustered than a preacher in a whorehouse?” – Sundown”

“And my mama drowned the dumb ones. I hear everything you’re saying. There’s a group of Buffys thinking we’re the bad guys. Ain’t my first rodeo, pup. It’s been happening so long, they were called Helsings long before your daddy was a gleam in your granddaddy’s eyes. Thank you, Hollywood and Stoker for that. Not like being undead didn’t suck before. They just made it worse for us by cluing the rest of the world in that we exist. Now every goth with a thirst for immortality is cruising for us, begging us to bite them, and turn them. Did I ever tell you about that time when–” – Sundown
“Sundown! I–” – Andy
“You need to check that tone, boy. Remember, I used to kill people for a living, and I ain’t been up long enough to have much tolerance right about now. Knock it down a notch before I forget that I’m supposed to actually like you.” – Sundown”

“Pulling out his daggers, he kept them in his sleeves, just in case he happened upon someone who wouldn’t understand why a tall, dark-haired man wearing really dark sunglasses and unseasonably warm clothing would be armed to his fangs. Really, Officer, I was trying to protect humanity by killing these things that suck human souls out to live past their twenty-seventh birthday just didn’t cut it. In fact, he’d rather be naked in a zombie flick with no ammo or shelter, coated in brain matter and wearing a sign that said COME GET ME, than face what they were going to have to face now.’ “Honey, let me give you a quick lesson. “You started this, babe. The choice is simple. Either you die alone, nobly like a good sport, or the entire world dies with you, which I don’t think they’d appreciate much. So put on your big-girl pants and own up to what you and your stupidity caused. It’s Joe Versus the Volcano time. But in the end, I don’t give a shit what you do. With the exception of the cowboy there and my family, I hate people with a passion that makes your feelings for Jess look like a schoolgirl crush. Lovely thing about my current situation, I’m truly immortal. You annihilate humanity and the world…I’m still good. So whatever you decide, it won’t affect me personally. I would say you’re the one who’ll have to live with the guilt. But either way, you’re dead. Whatever. I delivered my message. My job here is done, and I need to get back to the one that I’m still not sure how I let them talk me into doing – which is even weirder and scarier than the Dark-Hunter gig. Jess, call me if she wusses, and I’ll make sure you survive the holocaust.” – Zarek”
