Kate was a demon hunter in her youth, then gave it up for to raise a family (she has a husband running for county attorney office, a 14-year girl that's just entering high school, and an 18-month old toddler). Then, while wandering through the pet food aisle in the local Wal-Mart, she encounters a demon for the first time in years, and is unwillingly drawn back into Hunting. A rather rambly, unfocused novel that is still fairly fun. The juxtoposition of violent demon slaying right next to typical suburban family matters gets a tad old (like trying to hide a demon's body in the pantry while conducting a dinner party for her husband's political supporters). I give it a B-.
