The Ideal Man (Buchanan, #9)
by Julie Garwood
by Julie Garwood
Sometimes things are really too good to be true. The same is true for a character who is too good to seem real.
Ellie is a brilliant surgeon, and I do mean brilliant. As in - she graduated early because of her intelligence, and her surgical skills are recognized as far superior to anyone. Ellie is compassionate, breathtakingly beautiful, slim but busty, athletic...well, you get the idea.
To add some angst, there is a stalker who has been after Ellie since she was a child, a murderer who is after Ellie because she witnessed a crime, and her sister stole her fiance' and the wedding is soon.
Unfortunately, the reader never gets emotionally involved in the story because (as I said at the first), it doesn't seem real. We don't feel her fear, or her pain, or her anguish, or her growing love for the "Ideal Man" because Ellie is so perfect that we can't help but know that everything is going to be fine.
This was a pleasant read but it is not nearly as good as Garwood's other suspense novels.
