** spoiler alert ** Every sentence seems absolutely perfect.

This novel seems to be having fun playing with the questions "What is truth? What is real? What's made up? What's reality? Its a four-part story that begins very prosaic and seemingly straightforward, then gets scarier and more mysterious with each part.

Who is the "Invisible" of the title? Is it not really about the hero after all but actually about the villain? The death of idealism? The end of the 1960s? Who knows, except Paul Auster? I certainly wasn't sure while reading each page, and yet it was a riveting novel that, for me, became better and better as I went along.

Who says we always have to understand everything we read in order to enjoy it?
