She moves into an affluent community and faces off with competitive stay at home moms who would probably be friends with characters like Mrs. X from the Nanny Diaries.

When Marta, our protagonist, meets Luke Flynn, the story focuses on her budding romance with this man's man who isn't wrapped up in the materialism that permeates their community (even though he's filthy rich and well connected). Conflicts arise but it isn't hard to foresee how the story ends: the protagonist lives happily ever after, though still unmarried, to her boyfriend Luke. Her relationship with her daughter becomes less important as the novel develops, which leaves this reader disappointed since their relationship dominated much of the novels' earlier chapters.
