Honestly?

I found it a little dated and there was a feel that these were the pioneering homeschoolers that laid the foundations for the much more mainstream feel of today. As a result, I felt like I peeking into their lives rather than peeking into fellow-homeschoolers lives, and this made me feel a bit disconnected. Also of note is that due to the pioneering aspect, many of the contributors had built home businesses around homeschool supplies and this shaped many of their stories. Many of the contributors referred to their religion in their decision-making in the book which I was expecting due to my first statement, however not having the similar religious beliefs I didn't get the bonding feeling I suspect people of a similar religion would have, and therefore they would get more out of the book I feel.

I'm glad I have read the book and I'm sure I have gleaned some new insights however, this wasn't one of those books where I found myself inspired, taking notes as I read, or post-it-ing like mad. :)
