I really enjoyed this fictional biography of Richard III. My only previous encounter with Richard was through Shakespeare's play, and I was very surprised to find here a fair and just king, a loving father -and uncle!-, a faithful and passionate husband, a learned man and a brave soldier. Surely he could not have been so perfect!

The narrator is a fictional friend of Richard, and this works very well. The historical period is well described (but I'm no expert to judge), the characters are very much alive, and the tension is kept throughout the book. In summary, a great book.
