really liked it

I wasn't sure I would like it because I wasn't impressed with "Freak the Mighty" (although I read that years ago, and I'm going to look at it again). It has parallels to "Feed" and Scott Westerfield's "Uglies", etc., so it's good to see a book posing the same ideas as those titles to a younger age group. The violence and bleakness that underlies Spaz's distopian future isn't going to be for every kid, but I didn't think it was over the top. In fact, I appreciated the book all the more because the author didn't try to hold back on his imagination.
