The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

Okay, I love Kimberly Derting and I'm really crazy about the Body Finder but for some reason, this sequel just wasn't as good as the first in the series. I hate to admit it but a lot of times when writers write a series, whether they are debut authors or have been writing for a long time, the second book isn't as good at the first. Sometimes, it just lacks the right substance or the first book is just so good that its impossible to top by its successor. In this case, it was the characters.

Other than that, I otherwise liked the book. It was a little slower than the first book in pacing but other than my little rant, I liked the book. And I loved that the characters had more personality in this one, especially Jay. He seemed so one dimensional in the first book but in this one he's got so many more layers that I love. The ending really did take me by surprises and I was surprised finding out who the killer is at the end. I'm really excited to read the untitled third book when it comes out next year but I hope it's better than this one.
