Read in March, 2011
It was a quick read for me and although I am curious as to how the five-book series ends, I feel that there are better books to read.
Reading it felt like reading a comic book. You read the first few chapters, skim through the middle chapters and pay attention to the last few chapters, and you won't miss a thing.
I gave it a three stars so I must like it some. It was interesting for me and had I not read the Twilight series, I would have found it more interesting. The lead character, Alice, is not that likeable. She is an indifferent 11th-grader, which means that she is not a good role model. For some reason, a family of vampires is interested in her and because of that, conflicts arise.
I read the synopsis of the other books in the series. And she did grow up and I guess the story becomes more complicated. So I am guessing that this first book is just a teaser. As I said, had I not read the Twilight series, I would have given this series a chance.
