The Carlyles is the first installment in the new series of Gossip Girl books. The old crew has moved out and in come the younger generation. I picked this up out of sheer curiosity; I enjoyed the original series lightly and have become a fan of the show so I decided to just check the new series out.
This series follows the Carlyle triplets who are new to the Upper East Side. This book has the same combination of snobby characters, angst-ridden additions, and crazy behavior (drinking, smoking, drugs, sex, etc.) as the original. In fact, throughout most of the book I was not getting into the story nor was I finding any particular character enticing. However, by the end I found that the story had shaped up a bit. I am still out on whether or not it is worth continuing the series. At least I have until October to decide.
