I got this book as a free download on kindle and was not expecting much. Little did I know that Jill Mansell is one of the best-selling authors in Britain. Even though Millie's Fling falls firmly into the chick-lit category, not usually one of my choices, I found myself reading the book in just a sitting or two.
Millie and her roommate, Hester, are twenty-somethings living and working in Cornwall. They appear to be a pair of rackety party girls, but I soon began to see more beneath the surface. When Millie saves Orla Hart, bestselling romance author from suicide, that action sets in motion a whole series of events that affect Millie, Hester and most of their friends and family. By turns funny and heartwarming, the book is a real delight. The characters are delightful, eccentric and believable.
I would recommend Millie's Fling as a great light read. Some of the British slang may seem impenetrable, but I found it all understandable in context.
