bookshelves: foundational-writing-books, gay, literature, popular-fiction, reference
Recommended for: Booklovers, writers

Apart from simply being a beautiful coffee-table style book, it gives a one or two page introduction to 1001 of the most influential books in history. If you want to know more about the background of the classics but don't want to wade through the academic waffle at the start of most classics, get this and use it. The books run from pre-1700 through to the 2000s, divided into centuries. If you love books, read it and enjoy it.
