I rather liked the description of the bull fight at the end of the book. Otherwise, Hemingway does an excellent job of reproducing the skull-splitting boredom that mindless drinking and fiesta-ing lead to. P'raps it's my fault, but apart from Jake and Brett, all of the characters sort of melded into one big, drunken, unruly mob and I never managed to sort out who was who, especially when they were talking to each other. Hemingway's telegraphic style meant that I read it so fast that I was almost at the end before I realized that I didn't really care what happened in the end. But I did finish it, so, there you go.

But, you know, maybe if I liked drinking more I'd like this book.
