** spoiler alert **
A family's attempt to eat local for an entire year. While almost always engaging, Kingsolver downplays the way her family's socio-economic status makes this project much more feasible for them. Not to mention that she has the ability to stay home a lot b/c she writes from home. An "ordinary" joe or josephina might not find a model that works for them in this book. It also doesn't offer much for singles or students. However, it is a good read, and has lots of good advice for the would-be gardener, turkey farmer, canner, etc. It also provides some hope for the future. Kind of.
