Basic Synopsis: As the journeying cats return to the forest with the answer to the forest's demise, they are caught once again in another prophecy from a tribe of cats living in the mountains who foretell the destiny of one of the journeying cats.

Sad book. I can say that there have only been a handful of books I've ever cried on: Cages, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Last Dog on Earth, and Warriors: #3 Forest of Secrets. Well, it's not entirely sad, but there's a sad part in it when one of the characters you grow to know and love, dies. I really dislike it when a writer kills off a lovable character. It sucks. But sometimes a good plot needs a good death. A meaningful death.
This books follows the point of view of Stormfur of Riverclan, and Leafpaw of Thunderclan (as well as two chapters from Feathertail of Riverclan). This book is chock full of drama, romance, tension, betrayal, secrets, mystery, and of course, death. It seems to drag in a few parts, especially when the reader wants to find out what's going on with the journeying cats and the next chapter is all about Thunderclan's problems and how the forest is being destroyed all around them. It's a good read though, leaves you wanting to read the next book in the series too, though I don't relish having to read the first several chapters of book #3 because the plot moves slowly in those chapters due to the "what's gone on before" snippets thrown in. As I said in my last review of Warriors: The New Prophecy #1 Midnight, these sections are crucial if a) you haven't read the prior book(s)/series or b) it's be a long while since you have read them, but for me, reading these books every day...it gets old. Especially if you've read that particular book at least four times already in the past few years.

Regardless of my own personal irks with the books, overall, they are good books. And Moonrise is sure to keep your interest and leave you clenching your fists in agony as you want to find out what happens next.

Micheline Agreed! Super sad book, and I too only have a handful of books I have cried on...and well this one made me bawl.
