After a long interruption I finally finished Cleopatra. It is hard to review a book when there is a two month gap between the start and finish. None the less, I thought it was an excellent work of history and mostly debunked Cleopatra's reputation as an empty headed though sly seductress.

She ruled for a fairly long period given the uncertain times and ruled well. Schiff does a good job of evaluating her role within the Roman sphere of influence.

Breezy and well written. Doesn't bog you down like so many historical tomes. Highly recommended.
