This is another beautiful Demi book. She covers the Marco Polo story beautifully moving from Venice to China on the Silk Road. They traveled through the Holy Land, Armenia, Istanbul, Persia, Arabia and finally China. The great kingdom of Kublai Khan is a wonderful sight to behold and Marco Polo brings the story back to Venice and it is finally written down by a literate fellow prisoner during a war between Venice and Genoa when they were warring against each other. Demi makes the most of this story, allows its power to be understood and the illustrations are amazing!
