This book is a continuation of the world of the author's previous "Demonica" series, so read those first. The cameos will make a lot more sense. This book was good enough, but not great. I'm not that interested in the horsemen characters - they are just too human for nearly god-like creatures. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for a sappy romance this week. (This is paranormal romance more than urban fantasy, despite many gory scenes.)

The premise is that the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse could go evil or good - and one of them turned evil and is trying to turn the others. Pestilence is on the loose, and he's targeting War. There's a "seal" (think spell) that has to break to turn War evil, and that seal resides on the chest of the love of his life, Cara, who is an animal whisperer. If she dies, War goes evil.
