This is more like it! After the dreadful Wolves of the Calla, my expectations lowered dramatically for the rest of the series. This volume, however, makes up for lost time. We get another old-fashioned shoot out with Roland, and a whole lot of answers to longstanding questions about the world this series is set in. There are a few clunkers - Susannah taking over a listening station in her mind was a little weird, and I'm not terribly gung-ho about the surprise guest star that appears in this book. But, it reads ultra-fast, is relatively short compared to the rest of the series, and I'm ready and excited to get to the final volume.
